Girl meets frog … girl kisses frog … frog turns into Prince … girl and Prince get married ...

“But what happens THEN?!?!” is the question composer Deborah Henson-Conant kept asking. And she finally decided to get some answers! That’s why she wrote “The Frog Princess.”

“Sometimes you just need to WRITE the stories you want to hear," says Deborah, "and I wanted to know what it would feel like to be a girl whose father had actually turned into a frog!”

So meet Amphibia, daughter of the Frog Prince. She’s about to take over her father’s kingdom. It’s the one thing she really wants to do – and it’s the one thing she’s most afraid of! She’s afraid that the minute she puts the crown on her head, she’ll turn into a frog, just like her father did.

It doesn’t help that Amphibia has an evil governess who thinks that girls should be seen and not heard; it doesn’t help that Amphibia’s only friends are the the wisecracking fool – and the frogs in the pond! It doesn’t help that she thinks she LOOKS like a frog!

“The Frog Princess” is about facing the fears of who we are inside. It’s about romance, desire, the power of laughter (and crying, too!), and about overcoming the fear of humiliation.

So grab ahold of your inner frog and join in singing “Ribbity Bibbity Bebop” in"The Frog Princess."

Read what one fan wrote after a performance:

"Dear Miss Henson-Conant,

I was fortunate enough to be with all those excited children today at your concert at the Majestic in San Antonio. It was Magic!! And like all the other "youngsters" there, I was enchanted from start to finish! Loved your Harp playing, your singing, your playing with the Maestro, but most especially your storytelling of "THE FROG PRINCESS" with all the varied character voices!!

Little children all around me were dancing in the aisles! I don't mind saying I did a little dancing myself!! What fun it was to be part of that concert! Thank you for sharing your great gifts with the city of San Antonio. I noticed all the young fans gathered around you after the concert. They are the future of the arts. Thank you for giving them a glimpse of what a brilliant future that could be.

I just want to thank you again for a magical afternoon of music, theater and dance! Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!!

Sincerely,

Amy La Presto
