RELEASE
Your Inner EXTROVERT! July 7-12 In
less than a month I’ll be in Maine teaching my “Performance
for Musicians” intensive at the Celebration Barn (July
7–12) with my brilliant co-teacher, Karen Montanaro.
I LOVE teaching at the Barn because it's where I first "broke
out" and started developing my own performance style.
It's an incredibly creative environment, open to all instruments
and all levels - all exploring the core of performance itself,
using
the techniques developed by my own performance teacher, Tony
Montanaro. So if you’re a performer longing to release
your inner extrovert, there are still a few spaces left in
the workshop.

HARPBREAKERS
in MAINE! July 12 On
the last night of my performance
workshop, all the students join me for a concert like you've
never seen before; a concert that includes mini-performances
-- or, rather, micro-performances (each 2 minutes or less)
--
by each member of the workshop.
Last year, the audience (and me too!) sat
there agog, watching the most amazing display of short performances
I've ever seen! If there's any way you can get to this
show, don't miss it. It sold
out quickly last year, so call to reserve tickets now at (207)
743-8452. More info at the DHC
Tour Page.
GUINNESS
BOOK of WORLD'S RECORDS! July 22 Did
you ever read it as a kid? Did you ever wonder how YOU could
get in? I did!! And now's my big chance! 500 Harps are converging
on Amsterdam to create the World's Largest Harp Ensemble,
and they'll be premiering my new piece, "Guinness 500
Blues," which I wrote specifically for this occassion
- and with a special electric harp solo for me (one of the
benefits of writing your own music is getting to make yourself
the soloist). Since there's no concert hall with a stage big
enough for this ensemble, we're performing at the Passenger
Terminal. We'll
try to get some pix - this will be wild! For more info visit
the World
Harp Congress Website or the DHC
Tour Page.

"WHAT
THE HELL...?!?" Aug 13 - 23 DRUMROLL
PLEASE!!! I have a new show debuting Aug. 13 - 23
at a brand new theater in Cambridge! “What the Hell
are You Doing in the Waiting Room for Heaven??” takes
place in -- well, in the waiting room for heaven. There
have been a few changes and getting into the Heavenly Choir
is now a whole lot like American Idol, with superstar judges
like Elvis, Jimi Hendrix and Marilyn Monroe. But because
of a new "No Soul Left Behind" policy, each group
gets a casting coach -- and I
play Aubrey Giles, casting coach for the remedial Heavenly
Choir wannabes. Aubrey is determined to take her group all
the way to the top ... but first she has to deal with some
inner demons of her own...
JOIN
ME OPENING NIGHT - AUG. 13 - and stay for the special
Watermelon Reception following the show! Or ....
SEE
THE SHOW FOR FREE on AUG 15!!! Er...

can choose two free tix to the show as a gift. The fundraiser
ends this Friday!!! So to take advantage of this offer and
support NPR link to their membership
page now or call (800)909-WBUR. (By the way,
WBUR was the first radio station to ever put my music on the
air and I've been a fan of the station for years, so I'm thrilled
to be collaborating with them to help support the news).
And
if you can't decide whether to come opening night or WBUR
night, then come for BOTH - the show is highly audience interactive,
so you'll have a head-start on the action the second time

SUMMER
WATERMELON SALE
Did you know that the U.S.of A has a National Watermelon
Day? Personally, I consider EVERY day, Watermelon day.
Watermelon is my favorite food and I've been singing about
it for years. So for this Watermelon season, we're having
a special sale on "Just for You,"
the live album that contains my "Watermelon Boogie,"
until July 4th! We chose the sale price of $5.99
because that's the lowest price I've seen for Watermelons
recently.
"Just
for You" is one of my top-selling and favorite albums
- recorded live in Germany with the great German electric
bassist Wolfgang Diekman and the incredible Scottish percussionist
Davey Tulloch. The album includes live versions of a
lot of great tunes like Baroque Flamenco, Closer to You, The
Rain King, Budapest and, of course, "Watermelon Boogie,"
with some of my playing I'm most proud of. Also, I speak
German on it! OK, only two words: "minderwertigkeit
komplex" (it means "inferiority complex") as
I describe the differences in psychology between strawberries
and watermelons. It's a great summer house-gift - and even
better if you bring a real watermelon as well -- then you
can eat and serenade the delicacy about which Mark Twain said:
"[Watermelon]
is the chief of this world's luxuries, king by the grace of
God over all the fruits of the earth. When one has tasted
it, he knows what the angels eat. It was not a Southern watermelon
that Eve took; we know it because she repented."
- Pudd'nhead Wilson
Don't
live through another summer without Watermelon (Boogie, that
is). We've also got a couple of other things on sale
right now, so visit the Catalog
Page for more details or order
now. (Hey -- check out the Watermelon &
CD graphic -- I photoshopped it myself! (Er...and
apologies to people who really don't like it when people like
me make verbs out of nouns, as in "photoshopped")
(And additional apologies to people ... like me ... who can't
read text this small.)(Also to folks who don't like parenthetical
statements) (DHC))
