Q:
WHAT SOFTWARE DO
I NEED FOR THE
COURSE?
A. Each week the course information is provided in three formats and there's always a "low-tech version" so you'll able to
access the
basic
course materials
without interactive
software
because I'll
be videotaping
each lesson
and providing
PDF
outlines
for
you to follow.
Here's how it's provided:
- A video you can watch on line
- A PDF overview so you can read it
- An audio file you can listen to online
The "Office Hours" chat is conducted through "AnyMeeting.com" It allows us to be together in real time, and for you to ask questions directly. We try to always have a tech-assistant on that chat in case you're having trouble and need assistance. And if you can't make i to the chat, it's also recorded so you can watch or listen to it later.
So
even if your tech-savvy
only
goes so far
as knowing how
to
link
to a Webpage,
watch YouTube and
download
a file, you'll
be able to
get all the class
information.
If that’s
a stretch for
you, let us know
and we’ll
see what we can
do to help
you.
Q.
WILL I HAVE TO
DO
HOMEWORK?
A. It
is NOT required
to submit
the weekly ‘homework’ for
feedback, and
you will
not be
graded.
Some people (like me) know that they need individual weekly feedback on their own work in order to fully integrate new learning. Other people like to learn completely independently.
That's why I created two tiers: You can take the course without homework feedback, or you can take it with homework feedback. Taking it with the feedback costs about $25 a week more.
If you're not sure, then you can sign up to take it without feedback, and you can add the feedback option later. We may even have the option to choose week-by-week if you want homework feedback.
If you do opt to take the class with
feedback
on specific
assignments,
you'll
submit
any performances
via YouTube
-
just like
you'd
post
any other
video,
except you make
it
'private.'
Any performance homework will be short - under 90 seconds unless you want to
submit
final project,
which will
be no longer
than 3
minutes.
You'll
submit
any written work
via PDF.
The
technical quality
of homework assignments
isn't important.
It's mostly a chance
for you to put
the concepts into
action and get
additional feedback.
The
reason I even include
'homework' assignments
is that I personally
find the feedback
I get directly
from the teacher
in online courses
to be very
valuable. So ... the homework gives you an opportunity to practice the concepts and helps you come up with questions you might want to ask - but it's not required.
Q. WHAT
IF I CAN’T
KEEP
UP? A. You
can go at your
own pace – you
can take
what you want
from
the course, and
you’ll
be able
to access the
materials
for at
least a month after
the course
is
over.
Different
people
will
take
different
things
from
the
course. Sometimes
I
get
one ‘elegant
idea’ from
an
online
course
that
gives
me
all
the
knowledge
and
power
I
need
to
shift
to
the
next
creative
level – which
is
what
I
want
for you.
Sometimes
I
need
to
do
all
the
homework
and
get
all
the
feedback
in order
to feel I've
gotten
what I need
from
the
course.
So
I wanted
to structure
this
course
so that
regardless
of which
way you like
to learn,
you'll be
able to get
what you
need from
it. |
