Series
Press Release
A
Weekly Series of Performance Explorations with special guests from
the fields of music, theater, dance, science, philsophy, writing,
poetry, sports ... and everything else!
Each
week's show combines performance, interview, and collaboration between
host Deborah Henson-Conant and a special guest. Through the creative
exploration of diverse minds, the audience is invited into the worlds
of individual invention and the alchemy of collaboration. For example:
How is being a nuclear physicist like being a musician,
and how can the two possibly create something together
— right now — in front of an audience?
Discounts?
If you have a discount coupon or code, give it to the
person at the Regent Theatre Box Office, put it in the "Message"
box when ordering on line or tell the person on the phone the name
the code. Discounts don't automatically show up for on-line orders,
but there is an actual human being in the Box Office (amazing, but
true!) who will honor all discount codes and coupons.Downloadable
Discount Coupons.
Kid-Friendly?
While all these shows are appropriate for kids, certain may be more
accessible than others. For each show, the most accessible part
is first 40-50 minutes. The most experimental section will be after
intermission. Week 4, with mime-dancer Karen Montanaro, is a good
choice for kids, especially kids interested in dance. Week 6, with
cellist Eugene Friesen, is especially good for kids who play instruments.
Show
format: Each show is in 3 segements, with a brief intermission
before the final segment.
1. Presentation: Deborah and her guest each
present their work for 15-20 minutes each
2. Engaging the Observer: Deborah and her
guest respond to each others' work and propose a performance experiment
to involve them both.
Intermission
3. Courting the Unknown: Deborah and her
guest collaborate onstage in the proposed experiment.
If time permits, there is an Audience Q & A.
