Hello friends and fans!

The last few months, year...heck, the last FOUR YEARS I've been going non-stop! Between creating and releasing "Invention & Alchemy" and getting it on PBS, I feel like I've barely seen myself!

This summer I'm taking a breather ... well, sort of. OK, not really. But the big things going on are all behind-the-scenes, in the exciting world of (drumroll) Administration!

OK, OK, most people probably think of artists in terms of their on-stage personas, but when independent artists get together, they often talk about how to manage their lives and their careers – how to balance administration with art – and that's been a big subject on my mind lately.

For years I've been doing my own booking, in-house, with the help of a great team. But during the last three years, everyone in my office was so focused on developing the "Invention & Alchemy" project that there was little room for anything else. That finally convinced me to do what I should have done years ago: partner with a great booking agent.

So after a lot of research and legwork, this July I signed with the Skyline agency. Skyline specializes in artists, like me, who don't fit into neat little packages. I'm excited about working with them and looking forward to heading on the road again in 2008.

The other thing I'm excited about is my website. I'll tell you more about that next month, but for now I can tell you I'm working with my in-house PR/Graphics team, Mike and Margaret, to streamline the look and expand the resources so folks can find their way around the site better, and so they can take a peak into windows of my creative life that they may not be aware of.

We're just getting started, but definitely check out a couple of new things we've put up by clicking on the links in the "Other News" section below, including a short film I made with bass player Tim Archibald, a radio essay I did for WGBH Boston's "Morning Stories" and new interviews!

And I'll be back in touch next month!
