FEBRUARY
2010 -- IN THIS ISSUE:
Hello
Friends & Fans--
It's
Valentine's Day (well, almost ... or maybe
already-was, depending on when you open this).
Do you remember grade-school, the kids who
got all the valentines? All the valentines
you forgot to send?
OK
- this year there's no excuse ... I
just made three musical valentines you can
share with as many people as you want -
on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter - or via email.
So click away! Share the love! Share the
passion!
In
addition to creating Valentines, I'm
deep at work on 3 big projects: publication
and performance of new Chamber Ensemble
music in the U.K. in April; revision
of my musical "In the
Wings" for a July performance in
Seattle area - and a new album (no
release date yet - but deep in discussions
with producer Jonathan Wyner and 9-time Grammy-winning
engineer, Tom Bates).
I'll
start touring in the US again late Spring,
starting with Mother's
Day shows in the Greater Boston
area (TCAN & Tupelo Music Hall).
Registration for my summer
music camp (Maine/August)
is also now open. Link to the tour
schedule for more detailed
info - and check back every few weeks,
as we're just starting to add the 2010
shows now.
Hey!
Do you like romantic stories? A
couple weeks ago, journalist Michael Wirtthaus
asked if I had any romantic stories about
music for his Valentine's Day issue. I
sent him a bunch and he chose two
short stories, including one
about former presidental candidate Michael
Dukakis. (Romantic! But probably not the
way you're thinking). And if you want to
read my all-time favorite possibly
true romantic story about my grandparents, Anna
Bella and Piano Man Sam or ... my first
kiss...
Meanwhile
... back at HipHarp Headquarters... my fabulous
assistant Beatiz, has been reorganizing in
preparation for the arrival of our first
student at the "HipHarp Private Academy" (a.k.a.
my studio) who's arriving from Australia
for 3 months of intensive jazz studies. We'll
try to get her on YouTube later this spring
so you can see what she's learning!
And
in the category of inspiring milestones, Beatriz
and I finally mastered ALL the functions
of our new new multi-function fax-scanner-photocopier-printer-capuccino
machine! If that's not a technological
triumph, I don't know what is! The capuccino
tastes a little weird, though.
So
Happy Valentine's Day! Share our E-Card Valentines!
And do something really romantic --
even if it's just for yourself! Or ... maybe especially for
yourself!
