Ego"
is the limited 1st
edition of one of
my
most popular independent
releases (1996).
We discovered
18
of the original signed,
dated & numbered
copies which we thought
had all be sold and
we're making some
of them available
for sale now.
Why
would an artist
release two versions
of the same CD?
Everything
I create
is a work-in-progress
- I'm as fascinated
with 'process'
as with the finished
product. Sometimes
it takes me many
versions to
bring
a piece to life.
I may get
it right
the
first
time, spend years
destroying it,
then go back
to
the original. I
see every piece
as a blue-print
- a world of possible
interpretations.
I
ALWAYS want
to re-record every
album, so once
I had my own label,
I tried
to figure out how
to build that process
in to my work.
With "Alter
Ego / AlterED Ego"
I split the project
into 2 parts,
which lasted over
a few years:
Part 1: a
limited
release edition
of signed,
dated and numbered
copies
Part
2: a
re-recorded
album for general
release and
multi-printings
So
what’s
the difference
between the
two CDs?
Some
songs remain on
both recordings,
but most are altered
(get it!), or replaced,
shortened, recorded
with different
production, or
saved for re-release
on a future album.
