15:07:18 From FERN NELSON To Everyone::

Touching, I was transported to being a child shopping with my mom and going through isles touching fabric on the rack.  I learned to sew and quilt and am trying to transfer that total joy to music

Dancing with my harp in graceful freedom.

15:34:21 From Elizabeth Teplin To Everyone:

15:34:47 From Susan Haas To Everyone:

I “heard things” 🤓

15:34:50 From Joke Verdoold To Everyone:

Creating the feeling and combined patterns with just my left hand, felt so good.

15:35:16 From Cherrie Mooney To Everyone:

I like having a structure to start with, and then when I add notes, it sounds like it belongs.

15:35:16 From Pam Jurgens To Everyone:

Fascination with the simplicity of descending bass endless possibilities makes you listen carefully and you discover new things !,

15:36:53 From Betty Herloski To Everyone:

I’ve noticed how much freedom I have now to express myself since joining HHA. I now understand that playing my way is still real music

15:36:56 From Connie Ennis To Everyone:

this is so different.   I am not use to playing this way.   I keep wanting to look to see if I am playing the”right” strings!  I did enjoy the simpleness & beauty of the harp strings.

15:37:09 From Darlene Deisinger To Everyone:

I do like to copy other musicians – I want to play like professionals.  It is hard to let my music out!

Using these patterns with different rhythms was an interesting practice and could probably keep me exploring for a long time

15:37:43 From Kimberly Woods To Everyone:

I started off playing melody in the spaces of the bass line and then was able to just play notes over the bass line and realize that having the consistency of the baseline really gave me freedom

15:38:14 From Wendy Savage To Everyone:

Familiarity arrived and so did some experimentation and newness.  The structure was familiar but what I chose to play in my right allowed for some freedom of expression.  It was simple but it was so enjoyable. So many new possibilities.

15:39:08 From Jeffrey Heath To Everyone:

My wild cat loves it.

15:39:08 From Sarah s To Everyone:

discovered new sounds and patrons, I loved it.

15:39:55 From Pam Jurgens To Everyone:

15:40:12 From Olivia Berendsohn To Everyone:

I love working on a ‘pattern’ and then building from that 🙂

15:40:42 From Olivia Berendsohn To Everyone:

it’s like it starts becoming a ‘mantra’

15:41:26 From Vera Stern To Everyone:

Playing the “wrong” strings is a journey and accepting that the journey may bring new ideas, or new strings!! That’s composition!

15:42:51 From Susan Haas To Everyone:

Yes

15:42:59 From Joan Davidson To Everyone:

The simplicity of the musical structure seems to vibrate more intensely ‘within’ my own physical and emotional structure….than all the ‘fancy’ playing !

15:43:35 From Vera Stern To Everyone:

It’s confirmation of feelings and thoughts on music.

15:44:21 From Pam Jurgens To Everyone:

Yes! Let’s keep going!,

15:50:22 From Mary Law To Everyone:

I was worried I wouldn’t be able to count while trying to improvise. I turned my homework the first week I joined and realized the power of accountability & support from this amazing group. Best thing I’ve done for MYSELF in a long time!

15:52:53 From Mona Seering To Everyone:

I started because of 2561, and have never stopped learning and expanding, now practicing key modulation, so fun, a form of warm up every day with arpeggios and whatever comes. Then I try to focus. Lol

16:38:09 From Wendy Savage To Everyone:

I want to practice music and technique so that I can embellish upon my improvisation.

16:39:54 From Anne Horton To Everyone:

I would love to play improv on the harp for at least 10 minutes every evening before I go to bed – this would have the added bonus of making me go to bed earlier! The goal here is to water the “seed” of self-expression.

16:40:48 From Helen Wright To Everyone:

So, I dream of joining the academy when I retire in a year or two. (Can’t now— Work is ridiculously demanding.) My hesitation is (this is a hard question to ask —fearing I might come across as rude and I don’t mean to so  here goes)… I’ve been a musician for 50 years and I know that blues and jazz really aren’t my thing.  But I know you & the academy have a lot to offer.  So… as a, & Christian worship leader & Celtic, Folk musician…how would I navigate through the academy?
