 NEWSFLASH!
Late-breaking event Sun. Nov. 6th!

Rock Out on Electric Harp ... whether you play harp or not!

"I think of it like a cross between test-driving a new Ferrari and bungee-jumping -- you know, scary and elating -- a fantasy-experience to shift you into a new sense of what's possible." Deborah Henson-Conant

When a free night suddenly opened up at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA this Sunday, Nov. 6th, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to take over the set of the Ultra-Sonic Rock Orchestra’s six-week “Rock and Roll Circus” set up an unusual training program. I mean, the whole stage is already set up like a rock club, complete with lighting!

Now, my own “11-11-11” Concert at the Regent is next Fri. Nov. 11th at 8pm, but this Sunday night at 6pm, I'm launching the pilot project of “Pluck U,a chance for people – regular people – to strap on an electric harp and rock out - whether they've ever touched a harp before or not.

You know, I strap this thing on every day and create sounds that make people's jaws drop, on an instrument that's like nothing they’ve never seen before. To me it’s an everyday thing. But it’s truly an incredible experience – and I want to give other people the chance to experience that too, because they can!   Unlike the violin or the clarinet, you can actually make great sounds on a harp from the first pluck -- and that experience is liberating and inspiring, whether you're a musician or not. I think of it like a cross between test-driving a new Ferrari and bungee-jumping -- you know, scary and elating -- a fantasy-experience to shift you into a new sense of what's possible ... (more at my blog)

By the way ... the cool graphic above of "Pluck U" is actually the T-Shirt design by a designer through 99Designs.com - this was one of the winners of our "Pluck U" T-Shirt design. I only know the designer by the name of EzaiLX, but we LOVED his/her designs!

Ice Storm Forces Rescheduled "Flagpole Radio Cafe" Concert

This Saturday's performance with "Flagpole Radio Cafe" has been officially postponed since the theater in Newtown, CT is still without electricity after last weekend's ice storm! The target date for rescheduled show is Feb. 4, but you can still read the great article about me and the show by writer M.B. Tuccio.

"The Birthday Rose" Blog

My blog about an unusual birthday tradition gets some very intriguing comments ....

I'm Heading South to Georgia and Mississippi!

I'll be in Waynesboro, Georgia (near Augusta, GA) on Thu. Nov. 17 and in Gulfport, Mississippi (between Mobile and New Orleans) on Sat. Nov. 19 I have the honor of opening the season for "Arts under the Dome." It's all at my tourpage! And if you can't find the info you need there, email my office at info@HipHarp.com and let them know what you need to know!

My Birthday Week plans at the Regent Theatre
Sun. Nov. 6 "Pluck U" thru
Fri. Nov. 11 "11-11-11 Concert"

In a combo Birthday-and-Rock-n-Roll Circus gesture, the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA gave me an entire week to play with, leading up to my show on Fri. Nov. 11. So here's my plan:

Now thru Nov. 11 - YouTube Singing Challenge of "Congratulations, You Made it This Far"

Sun. Nov. 6th: 6pm - 8pm - "Pluck University Pilot Project!"
Do you play the harp (or just wanna look like you do?)
This is the night you get to play my new electric harps, learn how to use my gear and take pictures of YOU rocking out, electric harp style, on the stage of the Regent Theatre! Details are here ... and NO, you do not have to be a harpist to come to this -- but you'll sure FEEL like a rockin' harpist by the end of the night!

Tue & Wed / Nov. 8 & 9: "Open Rehearsals"
Come see open rehearsals for my Nov. 11th show, including the electric harp "Harp-Breakers Duo!" Do I have details (like when we'll be rehearsing)? Nope! But I'm working on them! So make sure you "like" me on Facebook and/or follow me on Twitter, because that's where I'll post details as I get them. Well, also on my tour page, of course!

We're also trying to live-stream parts of the 11-11-11 Birthday show, so we're planning to test the Live-Stream during these open rehearsals. So if you're a Live-Stream expert, please let us know and we'd love your help!

Thu. Nov. 10: "Dress & Audience Rehearsal" - 7:00 - 9:30 pm
If your theater experience isn't complete without a chance to actually get on the stage, come to the Dress & Audience Rehearsal Thu. Nov. 10th 7:00 - 9:30 pm. Bring your own costume, or we'll give you one - and I'll give you an important part in the show! Want details? I'm still working on those, too, but email and we'll get back to you this week for sure! (And to the people who've already emailed ... Thank you for emailing! This week I promise you'll hear from me!! I'm excited about this!)

Fri. Nov. 11: Come to My Birthday Show on "11-11-11"!!
Join me for a show and celebration. Hear the new tunes I'm about to record, including new audience favorites "Cirque du Lune" and "I'll Be Your Sous-Chef, Baby!" See the new "Electric Harpbreakers" and wish me a Happy Birthday! This birthday marks the beginning of a BIG YEAR for me, including my new "Re-DHC Project" my "Blues Harp" Project, 3rd annual West Coast Tour and the beginning of my 59th year on this planet!!!

It's all part of the first "Regent Theatre Rock & Roll Circus!"

Check out my tour calendar for a list of all shows.

I hope I see you at a show soon!

Guitar legend Steve Vai calls her the "Jimi Hendrix of the harp." The New York Times credits her with shaping the serenely Olympian harp into a jazz instrument by warping it closer to the Blues."

Deborah Henson-Conant's music ranges from Blues to Flamenco, in a relentless exploration of the instrument that was invented specifically for her by the CAMAC company in France: a 32-string, 11-pound electric harp she slings on like an electric guitar.

She combines music, theater and humor - with a voice, which has been compared to Carly Simon and an onstage energy that's been compared to Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry.

"The instrument forced me to rip apart any preconceptions. Nobody had ever tried to get these sounds out of a harp, so I simply had to stop thinking of it as a harp, and open my mind to everything else it could be," says the composing performer. That led to the development of music that's won her a GRAMMY nomination, PBS television music special, first prize in the International Songwriting Competition, and invitations to perform worldwide as a solo performer and with orchestras.
