Today for Catch-Up Coaching.
The group explored various music theory concepts and chord substitutions, with a focus on alternate dominant chords – sus chords, 9 chords, and blues tuning techniques. Sally demonstrated different chord modifications and blues progressions while explaining how musicians can use substitution and false cadences to create tension and resolution in their music. The session concluded with discussions about finding sheet music for blues pieces, reviewing harp exercises and techniques, and providing guidance on blues and Bossa nova practice for different students.

Reviewed some basics using the 1,6,2,5 progression from the Monday chat. Talked about why it’s called 1,6,2,5, plus some basic techniques such as sitting at the harp, hand position, pulling fingers into the palm and relaxing, and placement.
