Snippet – Bossa Nova by Osmosis Game

The meeting began with DHC leading a musical demonstration focused on Bossa Nova by osmosis and discussing music snippet creation with the group. The session included practical exercises in rhythm and chord progressions, as well as discussions about music theory concepts and the importance of understanding harmonic structures. The group concluded by addressing various individual projects, including NAMM applications, educational presentations, and resource organization for the Academy’s materials.
Catch-Up Coaching
The meeting focused on harp technique instruction and music arrangement discussions, with Sally leading demonstrations of simplified versions of various pieces and explaining arpeggio patterns and chord progressions. The group explored different approaches to playing and simplifying complex pieces like “Italiana” and “Nataliana,” with participants sharing their techniques for making music more accessible while maintaining expression. Today for Catch-Up Coaching.
The group explored various music theory concepts and chord substitutions, with a focus on alternate dominant chords – sus chords, 9 chords, and blues tuning techniques. Sally demonstrated different chord modifications and blues progressions while explaining how musicians can use substitution and false cadences to create tension and resolution in their music. The session concluded with discussions about finding sheet music for blues pieces, reviewing harp exercises and techniques, and providing guidance on blues and Bossa nova practice for different students.
