This is another rough version of my harp prayer. I came up with the chord progression by working with leaves roadmap in different modes, and then tweaking it further. You can stop listening after the speaking ends.

TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED COACHING ON. Provide specific questions here so I know what you want me to give you feedback on. Remember, I’m not grading or assessing your work – I’m coaching – and I can only do that if I know what you’re TRYING to do, so I can gear my coaching to help you achieve that.

I decided to try writing out my words and reading them. I actually don’t think this works well, within the ways I was taught to offer prayers, so I may ditch this in the next go around, but I’d appreciate your feedback. Also, how well is the sequencing of the chords and finally into music working for you? I think it might need more building as I go through the prayers,

Briefly describe your video and how it relates to the prompts and ideas in the course.

Usually I accompany a story teller, she has the word part and I play the music, and if she is ill I tell the stories, but in German, to do it all in English was a very awkward feeling because I had to think about what I was going to say instead of just letting it flow.
Interesting experience, it does not feel as authentic as when I produce Videos in German ;o).

My first attempt @ half baked video

This was a big leap for me!!! A real challenge that took most of the afternoon & evening!! But hooray that I did it!!!

This is my homework for the second week of Stings of Passion Module 4 (Roles).

This week I sang “You Have a Voice” as recommended. I transposed the song to b minor because that was easier to sing for me.

I’d like to hear your opinion about my accompaniement.

Often I was so immersed in the song that I forgot to look up to the camera. But hopefully it still transfers my feelings to the audience.

And of course please tell me what is working.

I really like this song, because it speaks to me. I might use it to tell my story with it one day.

This is my “Half Baked” video. I have been working on the different accompaniment patterns and grooves for “You Have a Voice” and this was my first attempt to piece together an accompaniment trying out the new patterns while actually singing.

I don’t know if the accompaniment is varied enough in the beginning, but I played with character as well as variation of pattern. I used a more staccato technique and found that it went with “deep in the heart” as a heartbeat.

My goal for my final project is to record a chorus of this song with improv mid section and vamp. Please tell me what is working and what I can work on, or give any suggestions for me to incorporate for the final project. Thank you!

I was tempted to keep trying for a better take, but I decided to submit this as my “good enough” imperfect take. This week’s module about practice has increased my awareness of how I bog myself down, taking too much time to do things because I keep redoing them because they weren’t “good enough,” and I am seeing that so much of that energy can be used for moving forward, and being unstuck!

This is part of a story song. To cut out most of the story, please start at 55 seconds. I pick up 2/3 through the song at the improv bridge. I also shortened the ending by doing 2 turnarounds instead of 3. That will get it down to 90 seconds.

Aside from my slight hesitation “looking for” the final chord, I spent some time trying to figure out exactly when to start the gliss and how long it should be. Does it seem a natural ending to you? If not, how would you change it? Also, always love to know what is working

This was one of many, many songs in rotation that my mother practiced every day even though she had given up her singing career to get married. When I start to sing, I am applying to the harp the best version I can remember of the piano accompaniment she played.
P.S. She frequently used glisses on the keyboard 🙂 !!

This is a story and how I started to play the harp and then I do Beautiful Dreamer. I almost did not submit my video because I couldn’t figure out how to make it only 90 minutes. I just could barely keep it below 3 minutes.
So, could you please tell me if my story parts are ok? You don’t have to go to the song part.

I just want coaching on the first 6 sections –the story part and the little parts of music.

Is there anything else you want me to know about your video?

When I sing the words, I do it slowly because I usually only vocalize in the hospital. That’s what I was taught to do.
