DHC led the group through rhythm exercises, emphasizing the importance of counting out loud and using physical movement to internalize musical patterns. The session included a discussion of the five core principles (impulse, structure, character, roles, and practice) and their application to musical development.

The group explored smooth chord transitions and chord inversions, focusing on minimizing finger movement. Members also shared tips on organizing harp music in Fourscore and reviewed handouts on chord inversions from previous classes.

Recap: The meeting focused on a Modal Improv Magic session led by DHC, where participants practiced playing “Moonlight Dream” in Lydian mode. Sally demonstrated the piece and explained her approach to coordinating left and right hands, while DHC provided guidance on learning and improvising with the chord progression. Fern presented a creative project idea for a “fairy dog mother” series featuring her neighbor’s Labradoodle named Boomi, which inspired DHC to teach a new chord progression suitable for storytelling.
