How to use Timestamps to Coordinate the Video Replay with the Chat Feed

To coordinate the video with the chat, look in the bottom right-hand corner of the video for the 'timestamp' (make sure your cursor isn't on the video or the video controls will hide the timestamp).  You'll see the same timestamps in the chat.

Search for the the following in the chat feed to find help in navigating the video.  NOTE: this system isn't perfect, but we're all working on it together:

  • => means this is the subject of this part of the video for example:
    • => ANNIKA FEEDBACK: means this is where you'll find the feedback on Annika's video
  • QUESTION: means this is a question someone asked
  • ANSWER: (put what's being answered here): means here's the answer to this quetion
  • TAKEAWAY: means this is my takeaway
  • AHA: means this is my aha

To start the replay, just look for the little arrow in the lower left-hand corner of the embedded video above. To watch full-screen click on the 4-arrow icon in the lower right corner. To speed up or slow down the video, click on the gear icon in the lower right corner.  Please add your own insights, revelations and takeaways below in the comments, even if someone else already said the same thing!  Just say it in your own way or say it again the way they did.

I love the way you have made the bar with the lever changes at each part of the piece. It makes it so easy to start at any given part of the piece when practicing without having to worry about the levers

I chose to leave the G sharp out and play 2 Bs because it made sure there were fewer lever changes
16:25:39 From heather flinn to Everyone:
Deborah this is super helpful as you have solved several lever problems for me and it is fantastic to see that you do hard slogging just like all of us…in other words learning a piece ain’t magic but rather, it is hard work – and worth every second!

Struggling through the written music is WORTH ITQ
17:18:42 From Nancy Cochran to Everyone:
Take the music apart, play as you can.

Adjust the piece in such a way to make it work for you.

patterns doable that still hold the magic
17:19:26 From Julia Cunningham to Everyone:
Biggest takeaways…finding the patterns in the piece is so helpful.
17:19:26 From Nancy Brockman to Everyone:
It helped me become grounded enough to select a segment to submit, and to simplify it enough to play for my hospice patients.
17:19:34 From Nancy Cochran to Everyone:
Identify the patterns, to plaay as you can.
17:19:38 From Diane Giorgi to Everyone:
Taking it pattern by pattern, note by note makes it not intimidating

Even though it has already been simplified some, there are always ways to make it simpler, and that’s fine and cool.
17:19:55 From Janet Mann to Everyone:
The patterns and shapes, the piece is doable.
17:20:04 From heather flinn to Everyone:
Well when I first looked at the lever changes I said “OUCH” but now I can truly say “haha!….no problem”
17:20:17 From Betty Herloski to Everyone:
Some parts are actually slower than I originally though – and highlighting the melody
17:20:18 From Nancy Cochran to Everyone:
How can we get the music?
17:20:35 From Leigh Harwood to Everyone:
I feel better about writing inchords now. Also, I have trouble reading bass clef due to a learning disability and write the notes in. Foryears, until now, I felt bad about this, but now I do not! Thank you!
