How this came about

Last spring I visited Altdorf, Germany for a 50-Harp workshop with the “Harfenfreunde Landshut”. This year, we’re following it up with two special online workshops open to harpists around the world.

We’ll explore jazz voicings, accompaniment, improvisation, and the creative possibilities of jazz on the harp depending on where you are in the journey:

We’ll develop accompaniment options for jazz standards including I Got Rhythm, Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Georgia on My Mind — plus tips for pedal work in jazz and scales for improvisation.

“Jazz Meets Harp!” (for Everyone)

Harpists of all levels are welcome. We’ll dive into jazz together — melody, accompaniment, and the world of a well-known jazz standard such as House of the Rising Sun. Lever harp, pedal harp, or simply watching and listening — all are welcome. Let’s discover new musical paths together.

Deborah Henson-Conant

Grammy-nominated composer, international touring artist, and one of the most innovative voices in the harp world today.
