Welcome to the Rehearsal Materials page for The Golden Cage!
Below you’ll find materials intended to help you learn and rehearse The Golden Cage. These include:
(1) a script (.PDF)
(2) a “script/score” (.PDF), which is a composite of the script plus sheet music
(3) audio tracks for each song, including “piano only” parts, and “piano + vocal” parts
At the moment, this show is still a work in progress, and there’s some organizing to do regarding song names, filenames, etc. Please see the F.A.Q. more information.
F.A.Q. about filenames, audio, etc
SONG NAMES
Please excuse any discrepancy between the name of the song in the script, sheet music, and filenames. You can always rely on the song number – so song #2 in the script will appear as “02” in the sheet music link and in the SoundCloud track names.
AUDIO TRACK DETAILS
There are at least two tracks for each song, one with “piano only,” and at least one other containing piano + vocals. The vocal parts are played by midi keyboard using bassoon for Boris, and clarinet for Alphea. You can identify the track you need by looking for the CAPITALIZED part name.
ALPHEA = piano + Alphea’s part
BORIS = piano + Boris’ part
DUET = piano + both vocals
PNO = Piano only part
ANOTHER AUDIO DETAIL
Most of these rehearsal tracks were performed by Tim Maurice (pianist working with Deborah), so the piano part and vocal parts have some life to them. However, due to time limitations, many tracks in the 2nd act were created by the computer, so they will sound more stiff, robotic. These will serve to give you a basic idea for pitches and rhythm. These tracks include:
#15 Golden Cage Reprise
#16AB My House is Nice Like This, Flying Song Reprise
#17AB It’s Mine, Now the Dream is in My Hand
#23 You Build Your Cage
