Unlocking the Future of The Golden Cage in LIVE Theatrical Productions
In its 2022 NYC workshop production “The Golden Cage” won awards for best musical score, best actor, and most innovative production. In 2023 it was made into a film that you can see right here.
But “The Golden Cage” was created for LIVE theatrical production, to be performed by diverse casts, in creative interpretations.
And for that … One final thing is missing: The arrangements!
- In the original NY workshop production the ‘orchestra’ was just a solo piano
- For the FILM release, film composer Tim Maurice, built a lush virtual orchestra on film. But it’s a VIRTUAL orchestra. It only exists as a film score.
- For LIVE theatrical production, the show needs arrangements for a LIVE music ensemble.
The Golden Cage is more than a musical!
It’s a universal story about isolation, ambition, and self-discovery, with whimsical characters, in a mythical tale that asks: Is life about searching for security or freedom – and can either one become a trap?
