On March 3rd, harpist Elise Hemke will step on stage with the Grand Junction Symphony and play a harp concerto in a concert called “American Portrait.” The concert features four American composers.
Three are some of my greatest heroes, composers I’ve idolized since I was a kid.
The fourth is me.
Since I was 11, and heard — really heard classical symphonic music for the first time — I’ve dreamed of seeing this in print.
It looks just as beautiful as I imagined.
