Let me share with you a thing I’m working on. It is called the “World Harp Ensemble” project where I let you enjoy an experience you’ll never forget: playing ON STAGE with me during the concert.

This project began at the ‘Dutch Harp Festival’ in the Netherlands and the ‘Harp Spring Days event in Belgium just last month. I conducted harp workshops and the attendees got to join me in playing at the concert.

Now, let’s bring that experience back home to the States. Beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee is a fusion of Southern charm and rich history – nestled on the banks of the Tennessee River and encircled by rugged mountain vistas.

It’s also the home of the 2024 HARP CONFAB – an incredible opportunity to play LIVE in PERSON for 3 days with harpists around the globe, with me, your creative coach and leader, Deborah Henson-Conant.

A Harp Confab?

You might be wondering … What is a Harp Confab?

That’s a Harp Confab!

Now … think about this: it only costs $345 for all three full days: for the training/playing sessions, group lunches, a Friday-night showcase soirée …

One that will expand your creative confidence, your joy of improv, your knowledge of music theory and your experience of FUN at the harp.

It’s all about CONNECTION … not perfection.

Here’s How It Works

Playing together is one of the most powerful, effective, relaxed and FUN ways to learn. I call it FRAMEWORK-PLAYING and instead of learning specific notes, each person plays the same musical framework at their own level – nobody singled out – as all play together, everyone providing support for the others.

This is actually the way an orchestra works – and it’s also how folk music and multi-level improv works. And it’s an amazing way to learn improv, to ground your understanding of harmony and to have an amazing amount of FUN while doing it!

You get to play fully, as you are right now. And as you ground and settle into that joyful experience, you begin to expand – and I’ll be there to guide that expansion into improv, harmony – and the FUN of truly PLAY-ing.

You’ll walk away with new tunes you can improvise on – at whatever level YOU play – AND new ways of improvising on the music you already know – expanding it with new harmonies, left-hand patterns and improvisation – and the chance to get coaching and guidance from me every step of the way.

And the BEST PART is that …

You learn this all WHILE YOU’RE PLAYING – the way I did as a kid – with everyone playing together. Yup! I’m giving you the joy of my own personal childhood! The experience of learning music purely by playing, so it’s in your bones exactly at the level YOU are at right now

  • If you’re a fledgling player, I’ll show you how to focus on the beauty of the essentials.
  • If you’re an advanced player, I’ll show you how to put your skills into play, expanding and embellishing the music, adding improv and extended harmonies.
  • And for all those in between – you’ll expand in the areas you most want to develop including: coordination between your hands, musical fluency, new left-hand patterns, harmonic expansion, hands-on theory, melodic improv ideas and rhythms
