Placing a Triad in the harp
The triad is the base of a chord. Being able to place 3 notes together is very important. In DHC’s Modulation Staircase, you will need this technique many times. It will also be a base for more complex techniques in playing the harp.
Today we have a special tip about triad placement from Heleen Vandeputte – a Belgian professional Harpist/ Composer and Harp Teacher at Académie de Musique de Schaerbeek in the Netherlands. She also assists with the creation of Deborah’s basic modulations warmups that became the foundation for the Modulation Staircase
In this video, Heleen takes on the task of helping less experienced harpists develop confidence in placing their hands in a triad that is a the heart of these warmups.
‘Modulation Staircase’ is a self-paced virtual training by the Grammy-nominated harpist Deborah Henson-Conant. It is the first step in the full Modulation Warmup Series that includes warmups in arpeggios, scales, rhythms, and classical and jazz techniques.
